Monumental.
We arrived in D.C. this evening and quickly set out for site-seeing. First we drove around the city then we headed to the Lincoln Memorial. I had been looking forward to this the entire trip. It wasn’t until the more recent years of my life that I really understood and appreciated our country’s history, so seeing all of the monuments now meant more than ever before. Lincoln looked so life-like, I felt like I could’ve had a conversation with him (and had it been just the two of us I probably would’ve tried..) ha! And we happend to arrive just as the sun was setting and the scene of the Washington Monument in the Reflecting Pool was like giant watercolor painting. Amazing.
We also hit the Vietnam Memorial, FDR’s monument, Thomas Jefferson’s…but Lincoln meat the most. I am so grateful to experience this with my best friends and I am eager to get out in the city tomorrow!
